Biography of Rev. RUTHANN Cannings, founder of arise ministry

Ruthann Cannings, is the Founder of Arise Ministry. She has risen up for ‘Such a Time as This’ to proclaim God’s truth to any who will hear. God has called her to be His Ambassador and she states: “I must do what God has called me to do and He will do that which I cannot do”. She recognizes that God was preparing her for His purposes throughout her career and ministry background.

Ruthann is an Ordained ECI Minister of Elim Pentecostal and Foursquare Gospel Churches. In 1998, she experienced a dynamic encounter with the Lord when He was urging her to move into a new ministry called: “ARISE! And it truly is a ministry for ‘such a time as this’, to empower and equip men and women to rise to their full-potential and purpose in the Lord, specializing in the area of Relationships.      

Ruthann has preached and spoken at conferences in many countries, including the Middle East, the Far East, Europe, Africa, and the United States; most extensively throughout the United Kingdom. She also enjoys the Opera, Ballet, Classical music, old Classics, reading, travel and as is evident through her life, primarily loves the Lord with all of her heart.

She was born in Guyana, South America and has lived in London for 50 years. Serving as a Nurse for 40 years, she also had the privilege of serving as a nurse-companion to the International Cellist, Jacqueline du Pre for 12 years. Ruthann studied Theology at Philadelphia College of the Bible in the United States for three years.

In 1991 she joined the staff of Kensington Temple as the Director of Pastoral Care. From 1994-1998, she became Director for the community link programme, with the primary purpose of linking the church with the community.

 In addition to her itinerant ministry, Ruthann represented Kensington Temple as a Borough Dean for five years (leaders from churches in the area meet with the local officials for the purpose of serving the community together); and as a member of the Evangelical Alliance Council for two years. She was a trustee of ‘CARE’ (Christian Action Research and Education) for twenty years and has been trained to be a Volunteer Chaplain. Ruthann is also a soloist and with a deep love for God and a tender heart towards people, she mentors in the areas of marriage, singleness, and spiritual warfare. Her goal is to equip women to in turn equip others and she does this through seminars, focusing on the goal as listed below:
